Adjustable bracket for Honda 8hp

I have a 23' trailer sailer with a transom mounted Honda 8. When we bought the boat the mounting bracket was inoperable, I'd guess because the previous owner trailed the boat with the motor on the back - flogged out all the articulating holes where the bolts go through. It has proved difficult to replace. Apart from crazy prices an eBay search shows all the brackets to be not suitable for 4 stroke, eveen if they match for weight. My motor weighs about 45 kg. I went to my local Honda marine agent who said that was wrong and sold me a bracket that turned out to be rated for only 35kg, so I returned it and was refunded. I approached Honda Australia who said that (quote):
"Thank you for your recent purchase price enquiry.

We wish to advise that due to the number of different specifications of our engine range that you contact your nearest authorised Honda dealer to discuss your requirements.

The dealer will then be able to quote the applicable recommended retail price.
" (endquote)

Not much help there as My local Honda man doesn't like me any more.

I found another accessory supplier who supplied me with a stainless steel bracket (ex China) rated for 55kg. It was poorly assembled and needed much modification but is now fitted and operable - but I don't have much faith in it for the long haul. I am looking for a replacement already.

Any suggestions please?
Thanks,
Pete

Sounds like quite a run around....

I am not sure if you can get Garlick products in Autralia, but they provide a number of different brackets that are aluminum or stainless, manual or powered, for 4 stroke motors..

They are quite strong and durable.

Check over the various models since they have different drops and lifts.

They are pretty expensive, but they work well.

Panther also sells one that is electrically controlled. You can even control it wirelessly.

Hope this helps a little.
