Bringing back an older thread...
Will that starter kit, along with the local start switch kit, allow for the motor to charge the system while running? Or are there other parts needed?

The starter kit (as sold by Merc) will allow you to charge a battery - sort of..

The charge stator that you add under the flywheel only puts out 60 watts (5 amps @ 12v) maximum - so when running at full throttle. On it's way to max output it's not exactly linear, so you get maybe 4 amps at 3/4 throttle but under an amp at just above idle.

So what it will do for you is keep a fully charged battery "topped up" if you use it for nothing more than starting the motor once or twice a day.

If you are looking to recharge a dual purpose battery that will also run an electric trolling motor or some serious electronics, this will not do the job - to recharge a standard group 24 battery that is mostly depleted you would have to run your motor at full throttle for about 16 hours solid...
