Adding a trim tilt gauge to a BF150A

Hi all, new to forum.... I have a new 2018 BF150A. I was wondering what's involved with adding a trim/tilt gauge. I was told that the sensor is factory-installed, and that all I need to do is buy a gauge and plug it into the factory harness. I will use a Honda gauge. Is that all there is to it? Or do I need anything else such as a sub-harness, etc.? I have not purchased the gauge yet, so I am unaware if instructions are included. Thanks for any help!

You might be able to hook it up directly.....

If the dealer connected your other gauges using the Honda gauge harness, then there should be four leads ready to hook up.

If the dealer used the existing wiring of your existing gauges (just tapping into three wires), then you have a little extra work to do.

You will have to jumper the switched 12v, ground, and light leads from one of the other gauges. Then you will have to find the yellow/blue lead in the key switch wiring harness. lIt will be with a group of a few leads with female bullet connectors. It will be easiest to find if you follow the switched 12v lead from the existing gauges (probably purple in color) and follow it to where it is connected to the key switch harness. That is the place that you will find the trim gauge lead.

The Honda gauge comes with a connection diagram. This owner's manual for an older 150 has a wiring diagram at the end of the manual that might help show you how it is connected. The rest of the diagram may not match your engine, since the newer engine has quite a few changes from the early engines. Unfortunately, the new manuals do not have the diagram.

Hopes this helps some.

Update: Thanks to Hondadude for pointing me in the right direction. Finally got the gauge. After looking at the schematic and the installation diagram, it really could not be easier! The circuit is very much like a throttle position sensor (TPS) in that it has 3 wires, one for IGN/power, one for ground, & one for signal from the sensor (the YEL/BLU)...very simple. Did not need Honda's sub harness, just needed to run one wire from the YEL/BLU to the gauge. Power & ground were piggy-backed from adjacent gauges, as were the light wires.
