What does it take to add a cha

What does it take to add a charging system to my 1978 evinrude model 25802C? We need it to keep a battery charged when duck hunting.

what kind of accessories are you running?

have you looked into solar chargers?

they may be cheaper and easier..........cabelas has them starting at $26 last time i looked.........you may be able to get them cheaper if you shop around.

as for adding a charging system to your eng ------ that help will have to come from one of the gurus....sorry.

"I assume your engine is a rope start model as the electric start ones are fitted with a stator with power output and a rectifier anyway.

That being so you will need the stator #26 ( in place of #21)the rectifier #6 the terminal connector #4 and all associated bits and pieces.

This kit is available as part number 173358 at about $200

A solar panel may be the easy and cheaper alternative as David suggests. You will have to determine your power requirements though as a $26 one probably will not be big enough. The 12 volt one is $40 anyway and the Cabela's website does not even give the power. Almost certainly less than 2 watts based on the size. "
