Add Electric Start on 96 J40JREDC ??

Need some help on this question. I have a 1996 J40JREDC jet with a rope start. I would like to add electric start and when I ask, people say oh $880-$1000. I really don't want to spend that much and can't see why it would be that high. The flywheel looks correct with tooth gear, the block has empty bolt holes where starter goes, there is even an extra switch on tiller handle that is currently being used as kill switch. can somebody tell me is this motor compatible for an electric start setup and where can I buy the parts? when I look up the parts list it just shows the recoil starter parts list. thanks

Go to http://shop.evinrude.com/ then click the "parts" tab at the top. On the page that comes up you will see a drop-down list that defaults to Evinrude. Drop it down and you will see OB Accessories. Click that and follow the menus.
