My oil pressure gauge is intermittent and goes from normal pressure to full (off the scale)... Mechanic says that it is a gauge issue but if anyone has any ideas it woudl be appreciated.."

Peaking instruments is normall

Peaking instruments is normally caused by loss of ground. Might be ground to instrument or sender ground.
