About to start a 54 fastwin 7.5 conversion

I recently bought a 54 fastwin 7.5, and am about to convert it from a 3 line system to a 2. I found a good step by step video on YouTube that I am going to try and duplicate. So far I have bought the fuel pump, 2 prong fuel connector, and new spark plugs. I still need to get new fuel lines.

Any advice before I start tearing down the engine?

Thanks!

All you need to do is pull the intake manifold and carb. You are converting from a 2 line to a 1 line.

Is this the video your watching? Pretty simple actually you may want to get a new gasket for the manifold just in case. What pump are you using? You want to make the pulse tube as short as possible.

Yes, that is the Youtube video I will be following. I got the Briggs & Stratton pump shown on the video. Thanks for the tip on the pulse tube! The video doesn't mention that.

On the video, it says to mix the oil at 16:1, but I have heard others say 24:1 and even 50:1. What would you suggest?

Run it at 16:1 if you want it to keep running. There are no ball or roller bearings in the motor at all. If you do alot of trolling just take extra plugs and tools with you when you go out.

It will not hurt the motor just takle it out and run it wot regularly to blow out the cobwebs. They do have a tendency to foul plugs running at low speed for extended periods tho.
