I bought a 1983 DT 85 from a guy who had never heard it run for $400.00 key was missing but the engine looked good. I brought it home and cleaned the carbs installed new plugs and changed
lower unit grease and fixed switch put in a battery it it and the muffs on and fired her up she ran good. I took it to the lake and it ran good but was slow building rpms got back home and
checked the fire and found a coil was bad replaced it and went back to the lake. This time she really ran great fast out of the hole and will push my 17 footer about 40 mph. tilt and trim works fine amd I have since ordered a water pump even though it is pumping fine. I have read some of the problems listed on this forum and realize just how lucky I am. Also before I brought the motor home I bought a book on it.
