Ok guys here is a doozy! My 19 footer with a 4.3l with duo prop drive seems to list to starboard side when underway. I took out extra battery, skiis, tube, life vests, anchor,
anything that would cause extra weight on one side. Hull is clean and shiny. Now I sit on starboard side driving and understand my weight can matter but even my old smaller boat with a deeper v didn't list as bad. Now here is the kicker, if I trim out the drive a little bit the boat straightens out? Any ideas of a problem within the drive or trim somewhere? Thanks for the help

A couple of wild card questions here:

Are you running a matched set of props?

Is the drive installed perfectly plumb to the hull?
(Don't laugh...... Bayliner let a boat slip out the door with a drive that was so crooked, you could see it with the nake eye!)

Is the boat equipped with TT's?

Keep in mind that list may be exaggerated on smaller hulls.

Last but not least, keep your bowling ball collection on the Port side! :D

Chris, according to post # 1, it's a "doozy 19 footer with a 4.3l with duo prop"! (yeah, that one stumped me also! :D )

Seriously, Chris has a good point. Perhaps some hulls were more characteristic of this..... I don't know.

It is a chaparral name brand. I know the aft prop is C6 stainless however haave not bought the prop tool to pull forward prop. I would hope they were matched lol. I will look at the transom to make sure it is straight to the ***** eye! Otherwise im clueless on this one

No trim tabs but if there is no fix to this they will be my next investment. Bennett trim tabs will be in my wish list.im gonna covert the batteries to opposite sides and check on forward prop to make sure its matching. Thanks for the help guys. You are a really big help not only to me but others in the forum.
you guys make boating more enjoyable and safe with your knowledge

What serial# or model#,year?Need to know so I can see what trim system or transom mount you have.
Possible the drive is too far down(postpics of the transom and the drive.Lots of pics of everything.J

Trim guage? It sounds like the drive is just lowered too far down.If it works when you move the drive up.
The drive is actually pushing the nose of the boat down and to the left.
Trim tabs on a 19ft.Not really necessary. That would be un-necessary forces on the transom.Install a guage.Find the sweet spot and leave it there.
I had a Merc 225 and it would tuck under and push the nose way down.I fixed the trim guage and found the right stopping spot.No problem after that.J

It has the volvo digital trim gauge. But wont it plane off really slow if I leave it there? Also can I take tight turns while skiing and tubing with it trimmed up a little bit? This is my first boat with hydraulic trim all my old volvos had only electric tilt.
