A new undertaking

"I have recently aquired an ol

"I have recently aquired an older bass boat with a 73', 65hp evinrude. However the control box is shot. As many of you know a new control box for this year of outboard is almost unheard of unless you want to spend about $350 on a box and a wiring adaptor, and quite frankly I don't have that kind of money to blow. And I really don't want to put someone elses piece of crap control box (bought off of e-bay) on my boat. So I've done my homework and I can get A new Uflex control box, a kill switch, and a new key switch with push to choke for less than $200
. What I need to know is how to wire the thing, the new switch is going to have 6 terminals. and I need to install the kill switch (i have no idea) The wiring is conected to the motor with the red plug. I havent torn anything apart yet or purchased the parts. To the best of my imagineation this is perfectly plausable, right? I am quite mechanicly inclined I've just never tackled a boat. The control box should'nt be an issue. It's the wiring that I'm concerned with and what to expect when I peel this banana. Oh, I almost forgot, thiers no trim or tilt, so thats not an issue ether."

"wiring that,wont be a prob...

"wiring that,wont be a prob...r sure,u have a 73?..a 69-72 evin would have a push button,and a diff animal shifting wise."

"The title says its a 73'

"The title says its a 73' and it is a manual shift I know that for a fact, its got the two cables from the box to the rude. But what wires go to what terminals on the ignition/choke is where I'm curious, do they come with detaled instructions or what colored wires mean what for the "red plug" style harness? And if you might know of one(ignition/choke) that is better than others for my application that info would be appreciated as well."
