I have a

I have an older Merc 9.8 model 110 w/thunderbolt ignition, serial #7023990. Can anyone tell me what year it is?
I have not used the motor for about three years and don't remember the fuel/oil ratio, I thought it was 50:1, but I think I was told to go with 40:1. Can that be okay?
Since I have had it stored for so long, what do I need to do for servicing (leg oil etc...)?

"Mike that's a 1973 or 74 Canadian built Merc EH!

50:1 is perfect - regular unleaded and TWC3 rated Marine 2 stroke oil.

I would replace the sparkplugs, impeller and throw in some new gear oil (just about any 90 weight oil that is GL5 rated, or "Marine" will work fine - get mine (storebrand) from Walmart)."
