"I have a 1998 9.9 Murcury kicker that is getting water in the lower end. If I change the gear oil it goes totaly milky after one trip. Is this the seals?. If so how hard is it to change. I am mechanicly inclined, hopefully all I would need is a diagram and some advice...."

"Chances are it's just a prop seal that has worn out over time. The good news it is a cheap, easy fix. It also could be something as simple as a bad seal at the fill or vent screw for the gear oil. A worse case scenario would be that one of the seals inside the housing by the water pump are bad. Not that this would be terrible, since it would be a good opportunity to replace the water pump impeller anyways.
I've sent you a picture of what your prop seal looks like to your email address listed under your profile.
Good luck."
