I have a 10sel78m (78 John

I have a 10sel78m (78 Johnson) that stalls at idle when the plug wire is removed from the bottom cylinder but not the top. Can someone tell me what the problem is? thanks

It is probably running on one cylinder (bottom). This could be due to low compression , bad head gasket, broken reed valve, or more likely no spark in the top cylinder.

"the motor planes the boat and seems to have plenty of power. But after a 10 or 15 minute run up river at full throttle it doesn't want to restart and when it does, it won't idle as usual. I've heard of overheating power packs not producing proper spark, is that correct and could that be related?"
