"Johnson 225 overheated while

"Johnson 225 overheated while idleing for extended
time at boat slip. Replaced water pump. Would not start. Cranks, No spark.Troubleshoot to bad pwr pack which I am about to replace. The warning horn had shorted due to excessive beeping. Question is: with the horn disconnected (tan wire now unterminated)will this cause any problm w new
pwr pk. Both purple wires from horn/harness reconnect to key switch where they were orignally.
I will replace horn later, but is it needed in the circuit. I don't want to fry NEW pwr pk."

"The warning horn is the only

"The warning horn is the only warning you'll receive if the engine overheats, has a fuel restriction, encounters a VRO problem of any kind, or have the oil tank run low.

Bottom line..... Not a good idea to run without that horn."

"I don't intend to RUN wit

"I don't intend to RUN without horn. Just want to
verify spark. Concern is hooking up new pwr pk without horn in circuit. Horn itself IS definitly
shorted internally dead to GND. Horn presently disconnected. It does measure some diode charicteristics from Tan to Purples. reconnected purple wires to igniton sw where they were orginally. Horn had 2 purple coming out going
to IGN SW and 1 tan going to wiring harness and 1
BLK GND also going to IGN SW. TAN wire and BLK GND shorted thru horn are presently disonn.
VRO is not in use. TCW3 OMC Oil is IN gas tank. Carbs rebuilt. All new hoses to carb venturi. New fuel elct choke selnoid. Motor ran great before overheating caused present No Spark situation. BLK Yellows test good thruout. Temp Sensors test good. Shft Sensnr Ok . 20amp Fuse Ok. Voltage out of stator coils measures somewhat less than 130V, and that concerns me some,, wondering if not enough triggering voltage to drive PWP Pk ?? I may be getting a little weak on
cranking batt after all these attempts and so may not be spinning fast enough to generate full 130V.
I'm new to this board but think everyones posts are REALLY GREAT in trying to help one another. Thanks, Trenton - LandShark"
