99 90 hp Johnson Tachometer Problems Please help

I have a 99 model 2 stroke Johnson. I just bought the boat and engine. The tach would not work so I ordered a new tach from Faria and installed. System lights come on and the hand moves slightly when key is turned on. Start engine no tach. Any advise.

Check battery charging to be around 13,8Volts after running some time at 2000+ rpm. If no charging, change rectifier/regulator.

Just ran a continuity check on gray wire, ok. ran a jumper wire from yellow/gray wire coming out of rectifier and tach worked-I take it the rectifier is bad and just ordered one. Hope that fixes problem. thanks

Ya , pretty sure your rectifier is bad, same thing on my 175 , replaced and worked fine
