"Hello, I am new to this site and have a pair of '98 175 FICHT's. My starter is spinning but not engaging. I read thru the discussions and several questions and answers looked helpful.
Most state to clean the bendix. I removed the starter but it apears that the gear is fixed and spins a reduction gear located under the flywheel housing.
I did not remove the housing as to not mess up the timing or anything else.
Does anyone know about these engines and how the starter works?
