"Hi-Just siged up after lurking for months.
Johnson J35PL3EEM
This motor was supposedly made for europe. (euro-certified decal) Exact motor # has not come up on parts search. Though, plate says made in Georgia.
Has oil Injection system.
Problem: motor stalls if run over about 2300 rpm. Starts right up again no problem--then does it again.
Began doing this immediately after dealer put in new impellor. If there would be any connection.
I thought it might have been fuel tank pick problem as it seemed to happen below 1/3 tank. Turned pick-up to "better" position and went well for while but now stalls anytime. Put known good tank/line on but continues to stall.
In process of getting new fuel line filter. 2 filters behind air box removed and cleaned though they appeared pristine.
Problem seems to be getting worse. Just don't have a clue.
Want to hear any other ideas before confronting dealer.
Thanks
Mike"

"These 3 cyl engines runs beautiful when oil-system etc works. Unfortunately the oil-mix systems were not of the best. Try having Your dealer convert it to a pre-mix.
Secondly almost everyone of those I came in contact with have had to have the power-pack changed. Some just quit (no spark), some got locked up in SLOW modus."

"Thanks Morten--you're an early riser also, huh?
Pump lobotomy was next step.
Dealer said the electronic unit was $1000 as they aren't too plentiful. Hope it ain't that!!!
But I have had my suspicions/doubts about it.

Thanks
Mike"

"Well i found the number Johns

"Well i found the number Johnson, 35, Power tilt and trim, longshaft (20"), 3 cylinder, 1999. Not '98, that would be EC not EE

If it cuts suddenly I might suspect an ignition fault but otherwise it sounds more like a fuel problem.

Try pumping the fuel line bulb to see if that keeps it going. If it does then air leak into fuel system or a fuel pump malfunctioning (2 pumps?) possibly."

Not quite! It is close to 8PM local time, and I'm just going to watch the opening on the olympic in Beijing!"

"JWB:
Your last comment yesterday did not stick on the board, but only in my e-mail notification.
However the weather here is as usual: 32C in the air, 27+ in the water. Just in the 'rainy' season with some thunder and squalls, but just refreshing.
Mike:
Attach a 2% fuel mix tank straight to the STB pump (plug the line from oil-tank) and do a test."
