While I was replacing my stator I noticed the upper crankshaft seal was lifting out on one side. There was no oil anywhere but it did not look right, about 1/2 the seal was not flush. So I took a small plastic punch and re-seated it. I have ran the engine for about 30 min and checked it. No leaks and it remained seated. My question is , if I have to replace this seal do I need to tear down the block or can I just pulll it out and tap in a new one? This is the 60deg looper (carbed) engine with ois ignition 2000 system.

That seal is quite big.---I would replace it now.---Shop would likely have a tool to pull it out in seconds if the flywheel was off.
