I'm running a 96' Mako 171 with a 98' BF90 on the back, I bought it last year in very, very good shape for age of the motor and boat. Love them both. It came with a Ballistic SS prop on it and likes to sit trimmed out about 5100-5200 RPM's running 30-33 MPH, that is max speed I can get out of it with full tank, tackle and buddy. The fuel consumption is great and MPH is not really too big of an issue but of course you always want more. My question is what other props are people running on similar set ups that are getting better performance? I cannot trim much about that 5200 threshold without it porpoising and I know that motor should get to 6000 RPMs with max HP being somewhere around 5800. I think it is either a prop problem or possibly need a throttle cable adjustment.
