OK, so I have this clean 98 Evinrude 9.9 2-stroke that I just bought, and it wont push my 12ft on plane. It starts first pull, idles well. The tstat was stuck open so I replaced that and now motor runs at proper temperature.
When I open the throttle wide, it gets a burst of power but drops back some after a couple seconds. It also seemed to falter a bit at WOT even further. Pumping the primer bulb does not help.
At part throttle on the way back in, it actually stopped running. But started right back up.
I figured dirty float valve, torn fuel pump diaphram, etc. But everything is whistle clean! No obstructions that I can find.
So I am stumped.
Any ideas appreciated
