"I am having a problem with my 97 DT 200. It started bogging down, you give it the gas and it just lurches if anything after being on the water 5 minutes or so. It will crank and idle great all day and will run at high rpm fine for about the first 5 minutes. I changed plugs and the water seperator, which had a considerable amount of water in it. The plugs I took out were wet with gas so I think it is getting the fuel Where should I look next. Any help appreciated."

I rigged up a 6 gal tank with fresh gas and went to the lake. The boat ran great for about 10 minutes then still ran smooth but would not turn up the rpms although it still had enough to plane off. But no lurching like before. I noticed that the water being pissed from the side of the motor after I started having a problem was cold like the lake. Is this normal? Could Ihave a thermostat problem also? I dont have a temp. guage. I know I will have to replace my gas but should Ibe worried about the temp. problem. Any advice appreciated.

I have never replaced the thermostat. I bought the motor second hand and have been running it about a year. It appears that the water pump is working okay it has a good stream of water.

"Start by doing a simple test have some one pumping the primmer ball and try to bring you engine up to rpm (only do this test in the water)if it runs fine then check your low pressure fuel pumps.There are two located behind the oil tank,make sure that all your clamps are nice and tight and that you have no fuelleaks any where.
