have 2 different 97VRO Evinrude’s, 40hp and 90hp
both have same problem , starts revs and dies within 5-8 secs . Has plenty fuel into carbies.
would it be a coil issue?
 
Explain your starting procedure. ---Step by step.-----And are you pushing key in after motor has started and wants to stall?-----Are you raising the warm up lever ?----How did they start for you last year ?
 
Normal start procedure. Not a choke (key push) or advance idling problem, both motors,mine and a mates are used regularly and well maintained. One started playing up while in use 40hp ,would start not run , the motor was warm stopped to pick up a mate , then would start not run . It wasn’t flooded.
90hp ran near perfect 3days ago, little rough in idle but ran well In higher revs. But next morning would start run for 5-10 secs and die . Its not a fuel issue,tried keeping running with ether spray but still cut out.
I really don’t think it’s choke , flooded etc , it feels like electrics
