97 Evinrude Vindicator 225

Having problems with fuel and spark,rebuilt fuel pump,replace choke cylinder,,runs for a while and shuts down,no spark, any info would be appreciated

The stator under the flywheel... the two large black coils located at the rear portion of it... Are they dripping a sticky looking substance down on the powerhead area? If so (keeping it simple), that would affect the ignition and in which case, replace it.

Also, as a test to the internal workings of the ignition switch, temporarily remove the black/yellow wire from the ignition switch. If this results in the engine having spark with it disconnected... BUT... no spark with it connected, replace the ignition switch.
