I have a 97 Evinrude 115 that has been a freaking beast to start.* Finally after some troubleshooting, I discovered that every time I squeeze the primer bulb it leaks fuel in unison at the left rear of the cover for the vapor separator.* I am assuming that the gasket is bad and the system is sucking air and losing prime or whatever!?
In looking at the setup for the fuel bracket and components it seems to me that you should be able to remove the entire assembly by disconnecting all wiring and hoses and removing the four screws that hold the assembly to the power head.*
If my assumption is correct; that you can remove the whole fuel assembly as I have stated, I could then change the gasket on the cover of the vapor separator or identify the problem if it is not the gasket.
Just looking for some input as to whether or not my theory is correct.* If it is not, I would appreciate the necessary feedback or any guidance I can get in accomplishing this task.
