"After first starting it will idle ok, but after runing for about a minute it dies, if you can get it gear and throttled up befre it dies it runs good on the go. And when it dies its hard to get started again. Have rebuilt carbs and fuel pump. It need all of this before I rebuilt carbs and fuel pump.
Also my starter does not wan't to stay engaged, have replaced starter drive on starter motor but still does it?"

"If you removed the rod (which you did if you rebuilt the carbs) then you must reset the linkage between the 2 carbs.

Your throttle cable is tied directly to 1 carb and the linkage operates the second carb.

Try adjusting your air mixture screws all the way in then back out about 1 full turn on each carb. Start the engine and let it run to warm up, then re-adjust the mixture screws.
With the screws too far in your engine will start to skip, choke etc. so slowly back out the screws until the engine idles correctly.

*Make sure you set this with the engine actually "in" the water so your setting them against the backpressure of the water. You may also need to adjust your idle speed screw as well."

"I think I hsve my Idle problem fixed, will try in the morning again when its cooled off.
But my starter still kicks out, I purchased a new starter and even used jumper cables and hooked it straight to the batery and it stil only stays engage for a couple seconds then disengages, Is it designed to do this?"

If so, then that of course would be normal. Otherwise you might have a problem with the ignition switch losing contact in the start position.

Almost impossible to diagnose that for you on the internet..lol"
 
Its not getting ready to start

Its not getting ready to start most of the time. I have bypassed the switch I hooked jumper cable from battery to starter and it still does it
