1997 50 HP Johnson 2 stroke. Number is worn but I can see J50T.....I attached a photo. Ok so....embarrassing but it is what it is....I went to change the oil in my gear box. I'm not a boat mechanic but it felt it was pretty straight forward. When I started, I noticed all the drain/fill etc plugs were stripped. Not the threads but the heads. I figured I'd pull them all out and replace. I did not realize one was a shift lever holder together screw thing. Once I had them all out, I pumped fluid into what I thought was the drain/fill and waited until it came out of what I thought was the level.... After looking into it (yes I should have done this first) I found I wasn't not supposed to remove said shift lever screw and that I had pumped fluid into the wrong hole. My question is...Can someone tell me which hole to pump fluid into, which hole is the level indicator (which should fluid come out showing its full). and what do I do about the shift lever screw...I was able to get it back in, and it goes into gear so maybe its good?..but I have no idea what the gasket looks like and the heads stripped so I'd like to replace (like to replace them all) below is a photo, the second one from the bottom is what I drained/filled with...I did not notice the one below it. The third one from the bottom is what I used as a level indicator, I did remove the very top one...but nothing came out and I didn't pump anything in....is that the level?? I found all the plugs one boats.net just want to make sure it going back together correctly. Ive called around and can't find a shop to work on it.
