Good afternoon all,
Have a 1997 mercruiser 3.0
Was having poor performance issues with bogging down.
Just installed rebuilt carb among other things and started right up and throttled up fine.
Couldn't be happier. However upon returning to idle (neutral) the throttle cable will not return all the way.
Engine remains at high idle until i manually pull cable by hand to seat it.
The cable had never been replaced and was unsure if they can stretch overtime or if there is an adjustment. When throttle is fully opened the control will go a few degrees past where it should. I believe it should stop around 270° (9:00) but I can push it to about the 8:00
Also, this has been on Muffs and not in the water. So I have not been able to do final Carb adjustments.
I've adjusted the idle screw into the cam per manual instructions but had to back it out so i could idle down.
I'm definitely not a carburetor guy so bear with me folks.
