"In the fall of 2006 my shop found evidence of water in the lower cylinder on the port side and changed out the head gasket. At the time I was told there was considerable amount of corrosion on the block and that leakage may become an issue in the future .

Since that time there has been no evidence of water in any of the cylinders up until yesterday. It's was slow to get up on plane and wouldn't run above 4700 rpm.

To make a long story short, I have again found evidence of water in that bank of cylinders.This time in all 3 cylinders. Upon investigation I was able to move the couple of head bolts I tired with very little effortso it appears the head is not longer torqued to spec.

The question is this. Can I simply retorque the bolts or should I start over from scratch with a new head gasket?

If I get into it and find that it’s again leaking becouse of corrosion is there a trick or product I can use to buy some time before I have to replace the power head? I'd love to get another year out of this motor."

It didn't over heat that I know of and has never had a cooling problem. I'll give it a try and see what happens.
 
The manual says the heads on a

The manual says the heads on a V6 are to be torqued to 15-17 ft lbs. Do I use these figures or the 20ft lbs. figure?

I need to run up and get the ratchet stop torque wrench but using the pointer type I have here at the house I'm guess the bolts are currently torqued somewhere right around 12-15 ft lbs or so.

I just went ahead and pulled t

I just went ahead and pulled the head and as suspected I found a trace of "white oil" in the cylinders. Everything looked good otherwise.

The head was planed back in 2006 and is still flat and in good condition. The gasket showed no obvious signs of leakage but I did find some areas of pitting on the surface of the block.

None of the pitted areas (@ 0.005-0.010" dp.)are close to the steel sealing ring but they are of a concern given that I have traces of water again. Can I use some sort of an a Hi temp epoxy to resurface these small areas in hopes of providing a better sealing surface?

I'd like to get another season out of this motor if possible.

"I'd suggest trying "Gray Marine Tex", very strong stuff. Should be available at any marine dealership, possibly other stores."
