97 140 hp vmax looses power under load

yamaha 140 hp vmax looses power under load. think its a 97
starts fine idles fine revs fine compression is fine.
recently serviced and the carbs have been cleaned twice. due to fuel going bad.

everytime on the water it will run and punt around but stalls when you accelerate

need help this is doing my head in because it revs hard but looses power under load.
is it something to do with the gearbox or electrical??????
 
I had a similar problem with my inboard. It was stuff in my fuel tank being sucked into the fuel pickup under full power and dropping away when i let off. Found it by hooking up a different tank.

had the carbs cleaned and jets blown floats adjusted
new fuel filter.
new plugs.
fuel ball is hard.
took it out on the weekend with a different fuel tank thinking the other one was dirty and still same problem. Had to punt around the bay.
its able to rev high without stalling in neutral
