"I was wondering if you could

"I was wondering if you could help me determine this problem. My check engine light and warning horn comes on for about 30 seconds or so and then goes out. A little while later it will come on again and do the same thing. This might happen a few times in an outing. Everything seems to be working fine. There is water discharge and you can tell its using oil, motor operates very good and notice no change when the horn is on or off."

"altho,i did;nt see the horsep

"altho,i did;nt see the horsepower in your post,....ck eng and buzzer,is fuel restriction, normally.chg filters,ck lines ,primer bulb, anti syphon valve on outlet on fuel tank,.they stick....remove it."

"then,...its not a fuel restri

"then,...its not a fuel restriction warning,...if it still runs fine,..and no other lights,i would lean to a bad system ck tach,or gauge,..which ever u have...ck eng should not be activating on your eng."

"here is the wire/pin color co

"here is the wire/pin color code,..i would ck w/a meter annd see if pin 7,is grounded,if so find the prob,if it is not grounded, repl tach.

Purple wire goes to pin 1 - 12V Key Switch On
Black wire goes to pin 2 - Ground
Gray wire goes to pin 3 - Tach pulse
Pin 4, (tan w/yellow stripe) turns on ?No Oil? light (wire from VRO Pump)
Pin 5, (tan w/black stripe) turns on ?Low Oil? light (wire from VRO Oil Tank)
Pin 6, (tan w/no stripe) turns on ?Hot? light (wire from Overheat Sensor in head)
Pin 7, (tan w/orange stripe) turns on ?Check Engine? light (wire from In-Line Fuel Sensor)
Pin 8, (tan w/blue stripe) used to activate the Warning Horn. It supplies a ground to the horn circuit when any other warning circuit (pins 4 thru 7) are grounded."

If I disconnect that wire from

If I disconnect that wire from the tach would it be a problem since it doesn't seem important to my motor.

The warning horn does come wit

The warning horn does come with the light. So if pin 8 is used to activate the horn when 4-7 are grounded then pin 7 should be grounded and the tach not the problem.Any other suggestions if this is the case?

"the tach,is supposed to sort

"the tach,is supposed to sort all that out thru the micro processor. If horn sounds,w/7 disc,..I personally, would repl the tach."
