96 454 Mercruiser and Bravo 1 Winterizing Question

Directions for using anti freeze call for removing the hose from the thermostat housing that goes down to the oil cooler and continues thru to the sea water pump and back out the out drive and filling the hose till the anti comes starts to come out the out drive.

Question..I have filled the tube and I know its thru the oil cooler but can't get it to the point where it actually flow out the out drive water intake. I still have a very faint trickle of fresh water from the intake.

Also..anyone know HOW much anti it takes to fill the system?

Any observations or advice from those wiser and more experienced than me would be greatly appreciated?

Ayuh,.... Air don't freeze....

Drain everything Dry, 'n there's No need for antifreeze...

So I hear but safety first, humid air do promote rust .......... no way to be sure that everything is always dry and protected from corrosion so cheap protection (well sort of ) .. I lost an oil cooler that way once...

I know I have the block and everything else drained and filled with anti freeze but how do you make sure the outdrive is fully drained or does it just drain itself by gravity if its in the down position?

most outdrives I ever dealt with drained themselves by gravity by leaving them in the full down position, it also relaxes the bellows.
