95 50hp 4 stroke impeller change

so i am new to boat motors and i recently got a boat and what seems to be a good motor, but the impeller doesn't work properly. i ran it in a barrel and nothing is coming out of the weep hole. so i got a new impeller and gaskets but like i said i am new to boat motors and i need help. i have looked for a repair manual but every time i found one they wanted me to pay for it. can anybody send me the "how to" guide or explain how to get to the impeller? do i have to take the propeller off? thanks in advace
 
Try cleaning the water hose from the block to the telltale hose outlet...use a straight coat hanger. To change the impeller the lower half of the leg needs to come off after shifting into forward gear. There are 4-5 nuts holding it together.
 
so i got the impeller replaced but now when i am in neutral the prop spins like it is in gear??? what is the deal can someone help me thanks
 
Sometimes on a hose a prop will spin in nuetral ( oil dragging stuff around )--------------So can you turn the prop by hand in both directions in nuetral.---------------Often times the lower unit is taken off with controls in nuetral.-Then during the work or re-assembly it will jump into forward gear.--------------So if that is the case you need to remove the lower unit.---Put the control in forward.--Make sure the lower unit is in forward.------Then re-assemble.---Test shift function before tightening all the bolts / nuts
