95 200HP OceanRunner will not shift

I'm new to this board looking for some advice. I have a 95 johnson ocean runner 200hp that will not shift. I was under power at 1/4 throttle when I hear a loud bang. I shut off the motor, restarted it and it will not shift no forward or reverse. The motor runs fine, I did not hit anything with the motor or prop. Any ideas? thanks for any help. rick"
