Does anyone know how to test

Does anyone know how to test the oil sensor on a 94 Merc 115. I drained all the oil out of the tank and took the sensor out and no alarm. Is there a way to tell if it is a bad sensor or a bad warning module. I tested the temp sensor by grounding against the block and the alarm did go off.
