I'm thinking oil tank sending unit but not sure...if so, I"m manually mixing my oil and don't need so I'll tape off and discard excess. Also...last pic is a wire I"m thinking is the heat sensor that sounds the warning buzzer?
 
The tan wire (last picture) looks like a cylinder head temperature sending unit. you absolutely need to keep that connected. I'm not sure about the other wire.
 
one thing you should test every so often is your over heat circuit( alarm), on the last pic., just past your fingers is a connection, disconnect the wires, turn the key on( don't need to start) and ground the harness end wire and the over heat alarm should sound
that other pic show the "big red plug" that was used many years for wiring harness, wires to the oil tank were not in that harness, can't find wire diagram right now, but pretty sure they are oil tank wires
