Just got this on a 21'pontoon, outboard wouldn't run when we got it so I replaced the starter & solenoid cleaned all the elect. connections (at battery, at engine, ground, hot etc.) and that seemed to fix the problem...til yesterday. Went out, started it right up. It idled for a few minutes, then died and wouldn't restart. The battery is 100% charged, with 845 cranking amps. If I disconnect the red rubber plug at the top rear of the motor (big one with 8or10 pins both large and small) and connect a battery to the ground at the motor, and hot to the red wire on the starter, it will start and run, then to kill it, I have to re connect the red plug, and wallah. it dies. I'm thinking I have a bad wire connection at one of the pins, but b4 I get into a big mess, I'd sure like some help.

When the big red plug is disconnected it is the same as turning the ignition to the run position.-Circuit must be " open " for motor to run.-----------Therefor you have a fault in the kill switch , wiring from plug to the control box or the ignition switch itself.

plug it all back together and disconnect the green and black wire to your power pack....there is a inline connection for that purpose under the cowl....this is the wire to your kill switch....
