'91 60hp vs. '86 70hp

Hi, I'm trying to learn the differences between these two motors aside from the hp. I'm considering replacing the '91 60hp with the '86 70hp. Both run well, but not sure which is the better motor from a technology standpoint. Both have the VRO pump disabled. Thanks!

I'd stick with the '91 60 hp as it's five years newer and there's not much difference in ten horse power.

I think the 2 motors are exactly the same as far as technology is concerned.

Thanks for the responses. My mechanic just checked out the 60hp and said it's in good shape. He recommended staying with it. A little background... the 70hp ('86) is on my 16' StarCraft SS 160 ('78) and the 60hp ('91) is on my newly purchased 17' StarCraft SS 170 ('91). The '91 came with a 60hp new and since it checked out good I'll just leave it as is on the newer boat.

Where does the hose for the " pisser " on the 91 motor originate.------------Does it come from the side of the block or from the top of the block ?

On the '91 it comes from the top of the block.
