90hp pro series mercury

I have a 90hp mercury on my pontoon any when you throttle up it takes off then the rpms go up but the boat doesn't get any faster it sounds like the prop comes out of water but it doesnt. Does anyone have any ideas on what may be the problem

The hub may be slipping. Mark the prop and the hub, run it, and see if the marks are still together.

If it is slipping what do you do to fix it

I marked the hub and ran it. it still acting like it's slipping but the mark are still line with each other

I put new prop on and my boat is still doing the same thing it sounds like the motor turning faster than prop. It doesn't pick up any speed

What you've got, apparently, is massive cavitation. Either the motor is mounted too high on the transom, or something (like a keel) is disrupting the water flow to the prop.
