First off, I know very little about boat Motors. I went to start The motor this morning before taking it out and it was very difficult to get started. Puttering and junk and when i finally got it started there was little no no water comming out of the discharge. The light indicates that the motor is getting water. Any ideas?

I know of no light that indicates that it is getting water. There is a green light, that indicates the oil pressure is good. There is also a red light, that if one, indicates the engine is overheating.

If you started the motor for even a few seconds without the motor being in water, the impeller (which provides water to cool the engine) be burnt up.

Since you said that you do not know much about boat motors, it would be best to take it to a dealer to have it checked.

It could be that the water indicator tube is just plugged up, but if it overheated and you did not know it, it may have caused some damage to the engine.

Too many unknows.
