90HP Evinrude Won’t Tilt Up

Hi. I have a 1998 Evinrude V4, 90HP.
Recently the motor will only tilt down. I did manage to get it to tilt up but I’m not sure what I did… possible loose connection? Now it stopped tilting up all together.

I have tried swapping relays with no luck. I ran 12 volts direct to the tilt motor and it works both up and down. I’ve tried the throttle switch and engine switch and both will only allow a down tilt.

Any suggestions?

Replace both relays. Power goes thru both, one rovides 12 volts pos the other ground.

Update: I replaced both tilt up and tilt down relays. No luck.

The maintenance manual I have does not show a limit switch but I discovered that was the issue. I cut the wires and spliced them together and it works.

I guess the limit switch opened the circuit and the tilt up relay wasn’t getting power.
