"About a month ago I got my 90 hp yamaha up to about 5000 rpm and the motor died. It started back up, but ran very rough and putted back to the ramp. I turned off the motor, backed in the trailer, and then started the motor back up...and it idled fine and trailered fine. Two weeks later I took the boat out and it ran like a champ. One week later, I took it out and had the problems again. As soon as I got the boat to about 5000 rpm, it died. The first time I tried to recrank, it idled very rough again. After 10 secs or so of idle, it died. It then was having a hard time turning over at all. I used to trolling motor to get back to the ramp. At the ramp, I cranked the motor again and it cranked fine but still ran rough. I emptied the carbs and discovered a very small amount of water with the gas. I also cleaned out the filter which had a small amount of sediment. I took the boat back to the ramp and it started up and idled fine. But as soon as I hit about 5000 rpm, again it died and ran rough. Any ideas????"
