90 mariner what year is it

have a 90 mariner 6 cylinder n

have a 90 mariner 6 cylinder need to know the year and if sierra part # 187021 is the right carb kit for this engine serial # is a904179 or a9d4179 cant really tell if it is a d or a 0 thanks for any help

"John, the serial is actually 0A904179 (zero preceeds the A but is often not printed on the tag).

That makes it a 1986 model.

1395-51091 is the Merc part number for the carb kit (one per carb, so 3 total required) and it retails for about 25 bucks a kit at Merc. And it does cross ref to the Sierra part 18-7021 which sells for about 18 bucks.

Personally, when it comes to carbs, I would only go with an OEM kit, even it it costs 5 or 10 bucks more.

I like alot of the aftermarket parts out there and even prefer CDI/Rapier ignition parts to OEM in many cases, but I'm picky about carbs - they can kill an engine in no time if there is an issue, so in this case, I would want to be 100% certain that the parts in the kit come right from Walbro and not some factory that did a poor job of "copying" them."

"Graham thanks for the reply. Not really sure what the problem is. Engine starts and idles fine, hit between quarter to half throttle and the engine bogs down, go past that and the engine picks right back up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks John"
