"I haven't figured out how to search the archive, so I will ask it here. Thanks for bearing with a newbie.

All of a sudden the trim/tilt down button started working intermittently. Whether I use it at the throttle or on the side of the engine, when I try to tilt it down, it doesn't respond. I have to push it and push it, and finally it will work. Tilting up works fine. It is just when I try to lower it that it has a problem, and not always, but usually. I ordered a service manual, but anyone got any ideas that I can be working on?

"Unlikely that two switches would suddenly start malfunctioning alike at the eame time.

More likely that a relay within the black plastic relay box is intermitent. If when you push ths down button on either switch, you hear a relay click..... suspect the relay.

You can test the relay simply by switching them. If the problem changes from the down mode to the up mode, consider one of the relays to be bad."
