My friend has a Merc 90hp 2002 4-stroke. It hasn't been turned over or started in over 10 years and has no more than 25 hours on it, all in FLA. He has it in NY now and wants to get it running for his kid. He will take it to a mechanic but first we just want to see if it will crank with the starter after installing new battery; ie. not seized, starter good, etc.
What would we have to jump to the solenoid to get it to crank, bypassing any key switch, neutral safeties, etc.? I'm assuming something to the small black wire on the solenoid with the red insulation at the end , but tell me if I'm wrong and what to try. Thanks.
