Didn't think so just couldn't figure out why it was installed

Its a resistor got a number off of it. Motor runs for about 5 minutes then started missing and shut off. Tried starting and run for 10 seconds or so and shut off. Any advice would be appreciated

You are running in the lake ?----A test bucket ?-----On a hose with muffs ?-----Running with a known good fuel tank and hose ?-----Reprimed the carburetor?-----Checked for overheating ?----Checked for strong spark ?-----Checked flywheel key.------All things for you to check as nobody can see , hear or touch your motor.

Replaced that resistor and cleaned carb and runs great. Was 5 dollars for ten resistors so just keeping on boat. May not be problem but just trying to cover bases

The " resistor " goes to what color wires ?----Have never seen that item on any motor here.

Hooks to the red wire and to ground didn't check where red wire goes. Definitely not factory

Looks like a charging system running with no battery. Using the resistor as a load.
