2 summers ago the little 9.9 started sputtering at the end of the year so I put it to bed for the winter. Come spring I cleaned the carb, which I have done on many different engines but never on a boat with an electric starter.(A couple of components that I've made sure we're put back correctly). I tried the motor at home and thought it turned over and started fine but got to the lake and it wouldn't start so honestly was too busy and only went out with the electric.
Fast forward to today. I tried it and there is no starter engagement at all.
All of the general things are correct spark plugs and gap. Oil, fuel and charged and tested battery but the starter doesn't engage. I actually boosted from my car too.
Not recommended but I did boost directly to the solenoid posts and the starter did turn but there was some burns from shorting.
The killswitch is about the only thing I can think of testing next but I'm pretty sure it should turn over even if the killswitch is malfunctioning it just won't fire.
Please help.
