Hi all, first time poster.. Got a pontoon last year with a 9.9hp Evinrude, worked fine last year, started wtihout any issues. Fast forward to this season. I go to try to start, and the engine tries to start, but won't fire.. I checked the that I am getting spark from the plugs, which i am, I also checked the make sure its feeding fuel, which it is. I cleaned out the carb, still won't start.. Could the kill switch possibly be an issue? I'm new to this so any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! THanks in advance for your help!

How old is the fuel your using? Did you run the engine out of fuel the last time you used it? How did you check spark? If your getting spark the kill switch is probably OK. Start with fresh fuel drain the float bowl and pump the primer until fresh fuel flows out the bowl. Then see if she pops. Put some seafoam in the tank and just take it for a nice long run to flush out all the crap that builds up from old fuel sitting especially the new ethanol fuel. I just use the old fuel in my riding mower Mr tillotson will drink anything.

I know the distributor is pumping power as it zapped the crap out of me when I tested it, lol. The guy who was helping me tested the spark plugs, and said they were getting spark, but I am not sure what he did. Looked like he held it up to something metal maybe? I can't say for certain. I triend with new gas from a completely different tank after flushing the lines and such. We also messed with the float as you suggested. Just my luck. LOL
