I have an older 9.9 Yamaha that recently lost all spark. I suspected the coil and replaced it. When reconnecting the new coil, I accidentally forgot to reattach the five black (I assume ground) wires that are attached to the bracket holding the coil and CDI unit by eyes under the bolts.
when I tried to start the engine it fired right up. When I realized my omission, I re-attached the ground wires and tried to start the engine, and it would not fire. I disconnected the grounds, and again it ran just fine. Again I attached the grounds, same result. Won't run with the grounds on.
Can anyone help with this one? I am at a loss!
