Good morning Guys,

I am a newbie here, I just bought a 1981 evinrude 9.9 long shaft. If I want to put electric start on this motor do I need to change the fly wheel and would i need extra brackets for mounting the electric start motor.

Thanks for your Help,

Jim Cav

Yes you need a flywheel with a gear for the electric start.----The gear for the manual start is not used for electric start.---------You also need the bypass cover with the bracket to attach the starter.

Starter / flywheel / bracket are items you must have.------------Many other items such as wiring / solenoid can be scourced locally.--------The original set-up used a heavy duty push button .-----There is nothing to stop you from using a small solenoid and your choice of wiring and start switch.
