"Hi all its great to be back.

Ive recently aquired a 89' V6 150hp Evinrude VRO. The previous owner said he had disconnected the VRO. I like the sound of this, atleast I'll know that the engine is getting plenty of oil in the pre-mix.

Anyway, he's done it wrong. Completley bypassed it. Hes just got the main fuel hose going straight to the carbs, and as the VRO is also the fuel pump it now runs for a few seconds before cutting out. So I want to get the pump hooked up to get it running constantly. Ive plugged up the oil line, disconnected the wires to the unit and have connected the main hose running into the bottom nipple of the unit and the supply line to the carbs connected in at the top nipple. So I gave it a few pumps on the primer bulb and fired her up. Ran nice for 20 seconds or so then died. I disconnected the line to the carbs and cranked the motor to see if anything was pumping through, not alot really, a couple of small dribbles. So I think the pump needs a service. Is this just a diaphragm? where is it located in the pump? Any tips?

Cheers guys"
